About the film

A little bear goes a long way.

What it’s about

Paddington, now a British citizen, goes to Peru with the Brown family to visit his Aunt Lucy at the Home for Retired Bears. But when they arrive, she is missing, and a puzzling event sends them off through the Amazon and into the mountains.

What hooks you

Dougal Wilson directs, with Ben Whishaw voicing Paddington and Hugh Bonneville and Emily Mortimer as the Brown parents. The film is based on characters created by Michael Bond, with a screenplay by Jon Foster and James Lamont. Its slogan promises a small bear on a big journey, and it is part of the Paddington series.

Who it’s for

It will appeal to those who enjoy warm family adventures that mix gentle comedy with a light detective puzzle, and to viewers who like seeing a well-known character explore a colourful new setting.

  2. Paul King, director of the first two films in the franchise (2014 and 2017), decided not to direct this film, but still took an active part in the project: it was he who came up with the idea for the third film in the franchise, and he also served as executive producer.
