What it’s about

Frank Castle, an undercover FBI agent, is about to leave field work for a desk job and a quiet life with his wife and children. During his final operation, a criminal act takes his entire family from him. Shattered, he begins a relentless pursuit of those responsible, using his skills to punish them without mercy.

Thomas Jane plays Frank Castle, while John Travolta plays Howard Saint. The film is the directorial debut of screenwriter Jonathan Hensleigh. Based on the Marvel comic-book character, it features a character called the Russian, played by wrestler Kevin Nash, who shaved his head for the role.

  1. The film is based on the adventures of a hero from popular comics published by «Marvel». He first appeared in 1974 in the pages of the comic «The Amazing Spider-Man», after which fans of the genre could regularly follow his exploits for 30 years.
  2. In 1989, a film of the same name starring Dolph Lundgren was released on video, although his character had little in common with the comic book heroes.
  3. Howard Saint did not appear in the comics; this character was specially created for the film.
  4. One of the characters, the Russian, was played by the famous wrestler Kevin Nash, who had to get rid of his long hair for this role.
  5. During the filming of the fight scene, Thomas Jane accidentally injured Kevin Nash with a knife.
  6. The film marked the directorial debut of screenwriter Jonathan Hensleigh.
