American actress and producer. She was born and raised in Hollywood, California. At the age of eighteen, Baker moved to New York. She made her big-screen debut in the 1959 film The Diary of Anne Frank, playing the role of Margot Frank, the sister of the main character.

In 1964 she appeared in Alfred Hitchcock's film Marnie, and the following year she played the lead role in the thriller Mirage. Beginning in the seventies, Diane Baker's career became less successful, and she appeared mainly on television. In 1976 she opened her own production studio, Artemis Productions, which the very next year released a television film for ABC.

Baker worked as a producer, and in the early nineties she returned to the big screen, playing supporting roles in such films as The Silence of the Lambs (1991), Twenty Bucks (1993), The Net (1995), The Cable Guy (1996), Courage Under Fire (1996), and Murder at 1600 (1997).

Between 2005 and 2012 she played the role of the mother of the main character in the television series House.
