Vladimir Vasilyevich Gostyukhin was born in the city of Sverdlovsk, Sverdlovsk Oblast, RSFSR, USSR. He studied at a radio engineering school. In 1970 he graduated from the Lunacharsky State Institute of Theatre Arts. While serving in the Soviet Army, he worked at the Central Academic Theatre of the Soviet Army. Since 1982 he has been an actor at the Minsk Film Actor Theatre-Studio. There he also played the role of Sergeant Bokaryov in the play "The Unknown Soldier". He appeared in episodes ("It Was the Month of May", 1970; "My Fate", 1973). Member of the International Slavic Academy, vice-president of the International Film Forum "Golden Vityaz". Gostyukhin made his film debut while still in his final year at GITIS, appearing in an episodic role as soldier Vekhov in Marlen Khutsiev's film "It Was the Month of May" (1970). His first notable role was in Vasily Ordynsky's film "The Road to Calvary" (Krasilnikov). But for audiences this actor began with Larisa Shepitko's film "The Ascent", released in 1976. Larisa Shepitko's invitation to Vladimir Gostyukhin, a prop furniture maker at the Soviet Army Theatre, to play one of the main roles was a complete surprise for everyone. And for Gostyukhin himself, of course, first of all. Vladimir Gostyukhin played the role of the traitor Rybak powerfully and convincingly. This work vividly demonstrated the actor's dramatic talent. Vladimir Gostyukhin strove to convey the living movement of a character changing depending on various life circumstances. Constrained by the framework of the director's conception of the image, he managed to create (especially in the first half of the film) a deeper character, approaching the understanding that was embedded in Vasil Bykov's novella.

A new surge of popularity, this time among the younger generation, brought Vladimir Gostyukhin the role of the charming Fyodor Ivanovich in the series "Truckers". Viewers - from young to old - fell in love with this solidly built, good-quality folk series and its heroes Petrovich and Sashok (Vladislav Galkin). Now, as the actor admits, "when they see me, they say: 'The trucker is coming!' As if I hadn't played anything lately." But Vladimir Vasilyevich does not rest on his laurels. In recent years, several films with interesting work by the actor have been released at once: "War", "Chained", "Wild Herd". He was employed by the prolific Dmitry Astrakhan - albeit in a supporting role - in the film "Give Me the Moonlight". He returned to S. Ovcharov - a wonderful, cheerful, mischievous piece of work in "The Tale of Fedot the Archer" based on Leonid Filatov's folk verse play. In 2004, in the series "The Team", Gostyukhin played the coach of a provincial football team, "Torpedo". Vladimir Vasilyevich says: "I was especially interested in filming this series, since my entire childhood was connected with football. When my mother once again saw my torn sneakers, she would scold me: 'You'll never have enough shoes!' I would silently sew them up and run out into the yard again - my team was waiting for me." Among his recent works, one cannot fail to mention the film "The Thaw" by director Valery Todorovsky, which was released in 2013. In 2014, viewers enjoyed the actor's performance in the popular films "The Alchemist", "For the Meeting" and "Yolki 1914".
