About the series

Side by side, through life and death.

What it’s about

Princess Danyang, Mu Wanyao, is sent from Chang'an to Lingnan to perform rites for her deceased mother. On the way back, her carriage breaks down, and she meets Shang Yan, a young scholar of humble origins. Their accidental encounter draws them into each other's lives. Back in the capital, with the princess's support, Shang Yan begins a career, and together they face court intrigues and political storms. Their bond is tested by time, duty, and power.

What hooks you

Meng Ziyi plays Princess Danyang, with Li Yunrui as Shang Yan. The series is based on a web novel and adapted by screenwriters He Fang and Yi Ren Kui Kui. It is a costume drama with romance and historical fiction elements.

Who it’s for

It is a good pick for those who enjoy slow-burn alliances that grow from mistrust to mutual reliance, and for viewers drawn to historical settings where personal bonds are tested by political maneuvering.
