What it’s about

In Voronezh at the start of the 2000s, thirty-five-year-old Dasha holds a job at a chemical plant and shares a three-room apartment with her parents and her fourteen-year-old daughter Tanya. She has just begun a secret relationship with her boss Roman when her ex-husband Dima reappears, claiming he has changed and wanting her back. After a fire destroys their village home, Dasha's younger sister Lena arrives with her husband Seryoga and their two children, swelling the household to nine. To claim the only large room for herself, Dasha decides to go public about Roman and push him to move in with her.
