Biography

Anatole Taubman was born in Zurich, Switzerland, and has Russian-Polish-Slovak-Austrian and former East Prussian blood. In 1991 he passed his baccalaureate at the renowned grammar school of the Benedictine boarding school of Einsiedeln Abbey, and in 1994 he graduated from the prestigious Circle in the Square theater school in New York. He speaks five languages fluently (English, French, Swiss German, German and Italian) and is truly cosmopolitan in his work. Taubman has appeared in leading and supporting roles in more than 50 feature films and television productions. Since 1998 he has been actively working and has achieved international success in the UK, France, Germany, Switzerland, as well as in the USA throughout Europe and beyond.

Among other achievements, Anatole Taubman is best known for his impressive English-language television work in "Band of Brothers" (HBO), "Servants" (BBC), "POW" (ITV), "Spooks VI" (BBC), "Waking The Dead VII — Pièta" (BBC) and "The Tudors II" (Showtime), and has also established himself as a fine character actor in feature films such as "Mein Name is Bach" (Switzerland/Germany), "Luther" (Germany), "Marmorera" (Switzerland), "Fay Grim" (USA), "Snipers Valley" (Germany), "Secret Défense" (France), "Taken / 96 Hours" (France/USA), and in 2009 — "Pope Joan" (Germany), "Same Same But Different" (Germany) and "Chanel & Stravinsky" (France).
