Delbert Martin Mann Jr. (January 30, 1920 – November 11, 2007) was an American television and film director. He won the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival and the Academy Award for Best Director for the film Marty. It was the first Best Picture Oscar winner based on a television program, adapted from the 1953 teleplay of the same name, which he also directed. Mann is the only director besides Billy Wilder and Roman Polanski to have won the Academy Award for Directing and the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival for the same film. From 1967 to 1971 he was president of the Directors Guild of America.

Mann was born in Lawrence, Douglas County, Kansas, to Ora (née Patton), a community activist and teacher, and Delbert Martin Mann Sr., a college professor. Mann graduated from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. After his studies he served in the United States Army Air Forces during World War II, then was discharged after service in the European Theater of Operations. He then attended and graduated from the Yale School of Drama, after which he worked in theater and eventually in television and film. He was married to Ann Caroline Mann from 1941 until her death in 2001. Mann died of pneumonia on November 11, 2007, in a Los Angeles hospital.
