Meanwhile, Investigative Committee officers conclude that the hitman eliminated by Denis Somov was never connected to the "Architects" group. It turns out that the real criminal is still at large, and only one person can track him down — Semyonov, who is in a pre-trial detention center and faces several years in prison…

Shakhrov, an assistant to State Duma deputy Kharitonov, hits a traffic police officer on the road. The case attracts public outcry. Kharitonov asks Arsenyev to hush up the case for a substantial sum. Colonel Stogov is detained by the Internal Security Service while receiving a bribe from Kharitonov. Tatyana Belova visits Pasha and submits a resignation report to Maksimov to leave the force. Pasha's cellmate has all his money stolen, and he suspects Semenov of it, who is beaten by the inmates during another walk...

Khokhryakov, the head of the operational unit at the pre-trial detention center, threatens Pasha's family if he doesn't submit to his rules. Semenov learns that Arsenyev ordered Khokhryakov to kill Stogov, who is also in the detention center. He passes this information to Zavyalova, and Stogov is taken away by FSB officers. In retaliation, Khokhryakov transfers Pasha to a cell with the inmates.
