Aleksandr Lykov graduated in 1984 from the acting department of the Faculty of Dramatic Art at LGITMiK (workshop of V. Petrov). He worked at the Lensovet Theater, the Bryantsev Youth Theater, the Theater on Liteiny, and the Teritoriya Theater (1994-1996). He made his film debut in 1981 in the film "Others of Games and Amusements". He gained wide fame in the late 1990s thanks to the role of Inspector Kazantsev, nicknamed "Casanova", in the TV series "Streets of Broken Lanterns".
