The famous theatre and film actor Aleksandr Khachatryan was born in the capital of Armenia, the city of Yerevan, two years after the end of the Great Patriotic War. Despite a difficult post-war childhood, Aleksandr managed to fulfill his dream and became an actor. Having received a theatrical education, Khachatryan became a member of the troupe of the Gabriel Sundukyan State National Academic Theatre in Yerevan. The young man's film acting career began with work at Armenian Television in the television film "Tvyordaya poroda".

In that same year - 1974 - he also appeared on the big screen in the film "The Gorge of Abandoned Tales". Over his many years in cinema, Khachatryan took part in the work on three dozen projects. Among them were also films co-produced by Armenia and the USA. Aleksandr Khachatryan and his wife - Alisa Kaplandzhyan - have two children.
